Photo Discussion Group

After a long hiatus with the closure of the clubrooms in 2020, the Photo Discussion Group will resume face to face meetings on Monday 8 February at 8pm. We welcome you to bring along anything photographic that you would like to discuss with like minded members. That could be photographs (yours or someone else’s), books or even photographic equipment.

Meetings will of course be COVID-safe and subject to ongoing approval for continued face to face meetings by the Board.

We look forward to seeing you again on Monday night.

Digital Editing Group 

The Digital Editing Group will resume face to face meetings on Monday 15 February at 8pm. Our guest speaker for the evening will be A Grade Photographer of the Year 2020 – Paul Dodd. Paul is going to talk about how he creates his wonderful Jeffrey Smart style architectural images which gained him so many accolades during 2020.

Meetings will of course be COVID-safe and subject to ongoing approval for continued face to face meetings by the Board.

The new coordinators of the Grace Lock Group, Kaye Linsdell and Anne Shellard invite any interested members to join them for a discussion on re-establishing the group and to plan for the year ahead.
The Grace Lock Group has historically been a group focussing on women photographers who met to explore various aspects of photography as suggested by the group.

The next Introduction to Photography Course to be run by the Melbourne Camera Club begins on 23 February and runs for 6 weeks. As well as learning how to handle your camera, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of composition, light and how it impacts images and a range of photographic genres. Your course also includes 12 months membership of the Club for you to continue your photographic journey. More information can be found here.

The Melbourne Camera Club is urgently seeking high quality images to enter in the interclub Glennie Nature International Salon. Images are required by 14 February. For more information on the competition and conditions of entry, and where to send images, please click here.

Thank you to the Members and friends who have already registered for Melbourne Camera Club’s 2021 International Women’s Day Exhibition. Registrations have been extended and now close on Friday 12 February at 11.59pm.

If you would like to be a part of our upcoming exhibition, you are welcome to enter two of your favourite prints. The IWD theme is #ChooseToChallenge, but don’t get daunted by this – the challenge is to enter your favourite images, not reference the theme.

If you have already registered your interest, please take a moment to submit your print titles on the link below, both registration and print titles close on Friday 12 February at 11.59pm.

Print and PDI Monthly Competitions resume in February now that we can have face to face club meetings. The set-subject for February is “Patterns in Nature. For 2021 there will be some changes to the Print Competition beginning on Thursday February 11.
